Tell our readers, where you’re from.. What’s your home-state, country? Alex Green (Greenhouse Records).  Born July 24, 1989 I am from the small town of Waverly, TN in the United States.  I currently live in Knoxville, TN

Where did your label's name originate from? The name “Greenhouse” was born my sophomore year in high school.

I had recorded a track called “Blue Tee” (our school colors were blue and white)

And I let my basketball teammates hear it and everyone wanted to come and record a song at “Green’s House.”

While in basketball practice that day I blocked a shot and said, “don’t bring that in my house, this is Green’s House, that’s the Greenhouse Effect” and thus the name “Greenhouse” was born.

Other than music what do you do to pay the bills? I am a full time student at The University of Tennessee.  Scholarships, Grants, and my wonderful parents are my financial back-bone while I'm a college student.

What are some of your hobbies and extracurricular activities you enjoy? In high school I was a three sport athlete, playing football, basketball and running track.  Now days I am just a student, I play pickup basketball every now and then but I mostly just run and work out.

What year did you first become introduced to hip-hop? I have always loved music, and I have been listening to hip hop as long as I can remember. 8th grade is when I really started getting serious and started laying down tracks.

Coming up as an artist what emcee's influenced your music and intrigued you to pick up a mic and hit the booth and stage? Family played a big role, my older cousin influenced me to start recording.

How would you describe your presence in the studio when your laying down tracks, do you consider yourself versatile when it comes to a wide range of styles, or do you stick to a certain method when it comes to your delivery and execution? I have a unique voice. When I am in the booth recording I like to think I am versatile. I am better at spitting some ways than others but I believe I can bring various forms and switch up styles very well.

What Artists, Disc Jockeys, Producers are you currently working with? Here in college is where I met two of the other members of my group, Ladie Luck and A-Han.  Another artist who is part of the team is my little cousin Swirl. The majority of my work is with my label mates.

If you had the pick of any artist(s) to spit a 16 bar verse on a collaborative track what artist(s) would you choose and why? At the present time I have not collaborated with anyone except members of my team, but if I could choose one person to step in the booth with it would be Nelly.  I like his songs, the way he sounds, and his swagger.

Tell us about your first project / single? The first official song I made with the name “Greenhouse” was called “Greenhouse is Back.”  It was made when I was a junior in high school.  I later combined it with another song to make what is now called “The Greenhouse Anthem”.

What was your most recent gig / show, what shows do you currently have lined up? We currently have yet to book shows or anything of that nature, mainly because of time restraints and the fact that we are now in different locations.  We are hoping to release two singles later this month and to release the album in April of this year. Currently our biggest focus is trying to promote our music, keep networking and get as much feedback as possible.

What is a typical day for you? A typical day in my life is waking up and doing my work out routine.. Staying fit and healthy is a big part of my life. Start my day off doing 50 push ups and 50 sit ups, eat and go to class.  Head out of class and hit the gym for some cardio. Stay up to date on my sports.. listen to the ESPN 1st and 10 podcast..  Got to hear my man Skip Bailess and all of his madness.  Listen to some music, write a few bars, do schoolwork, and play a little xbox.  Before I call it a night I do 50 more pushups and sit ups along with a resistance based body workout.

What's currently in your iPod / Android / Mp3 Player play list? My iTunes library consists of a large number of songs, mainly hip hop and r&b, but there are other types of music in the mix as well. If you glance into my top 25 most played you will see a mixture of new materials such as All of the Lights and some old school such as Po Pimpin. My all-time favorite song would have to be Mo Money Mo Problems.

Where do you see yourself and your career in the industry in the next 5 years? In 5 years I see myself progressing in the industry, not so much as a megastar but a well-known artist and producer.  The industry seems to be dying as far as record labels because of the so called ease of spread of an artist’s own material. I personally know this not to be true so I believe some record labels will be weeded out but many will remain. The hip hop industry as a whole I see it being just a big as it is now, if not bigger.

If you had to choose one track that will have HipHop.Org readers hooked, which track would it be? If I had to pick a song that would have the readers hooked it would be the track   “Looking So Right”.  I would like to say to the HipHop.Org readers, please feel free to leave your feedback and criticism..
