We had the pleasure of giving one of the first main stream interviews to New Jersey duo,
"The Cause and Knowledge". Now a few months later their new EP slides across our desk.
At first when we saw the title "The Jersey Shore EP" we thought it was gonna be about spray tanning and guidos getting there smush on, but it is more "New Jersey Drive" then "Seaside Heights."
Actually it's almost quiet brilliant capitalizing off the MTV shows success and running with it.
Shock Value is at an all time high with the title and now we hit play. This mixtape kicks off into a fire storm of a song called "The Truth."
It's appropriatley titled being they spit about societies ill's growing up in the garden state. One riveting track is "Hallelujah",
The Cause and Knowledge speak more on the politics of living in the 99 percent and below the poverty line.
They make it clear that if you were born with "a silver spoon/ with the illest room" .. you probobally just can't relate. The raspy voiced emcees feel at home when rhyming over Half Centric's production.
Another honorable mention is the inspiring "Rise Up" which finds Cause spitting about coinsciencly about hip hop baffoonery while stating "all the ones who say they the hardest but they the softest/ and how you banging all day at the label office."
Knowledge clears the air also while aggresively expressing that "if you really thought that fake shit would blind us/ you wrong, it wasn't gonna take long for us to wise up/.
Two stand out cuts have to be "Outcast" and "Garden State" which find both artists moving rhymes like weight. Lyrics are on full throttle with these cuts.
Overall this project is a must have and the only thing that we thought needed an adjustment was the artwork. Being people judge books by their covers they might over look this gem because of it's casing.
One remarkable thing about The Cause and Knowledge is their separation from what most "swag" rappers in there age are doing.
There is nothing Wocka Flocka about these artists at all. All the music on this EP has a meaning and will brand this duo in their grass root stages. Right now what you need to do is download this FREE ep and under stand the Cause for Knowledge.
