Sick of that bullshit on the radio? Here is your first aid kit. "Da' Hitman Presents : The Faction", is a 22 track mixtape boasting fresh new talent.

Most of these artists are true to there form and untarnished by corporate America and out of touch A & R's.

Stal kicks off the project with something up tempo and hypnotizing. Its old school meets new school.

It's reminiscent of a early 90's production meshed with a Ying Yang Twin's "Whisper" song.

Even though the record is hot, it might not be the best record to kick off the mixtape with, being the vocals are mixed so low it was hard to understand the artists verse.

If you never heard of Gengis Khan before then go to track 5. Gengis features B McCoy and Miss Marianna on "We Rollin". Miss Marianna goes in with a mean verse that would make Lady Luck and Remy Ma rewind. B McCoy has a mid west sounding voice texture with a cunning delivery which makes for an interesting verse. Then to top it off Gengis Khan steals the spotlight.

With an almost flawless flow he rides the strings and keyboard patches like a true pro with lines like, "I'm trying to feed my family man with one verse/ and if I cant do it, I'ma pursue it and let the guns burst/ there's nothing to it but to do it bitches get unpursed/". Gengis aint playing! Ladies won't be disappointed with a record like "U" from Stal featuring Bobby Valentino.

This is perfect drop the top and ride around the city type of song. Nothing wrong with a smooth record like this. Track 10 is out of this solar system. Philos checks in with "Check". Philos has a style that's in a league of his own. It's kind of Ironic being he follows up with another banger called "Outer Space". Not taking anything away from all the artists on this mixtape but it is safe to say Gengis Khan might be the stand out on this project.

One thing that was missing from most of these artists records on this project was substance. Gengis fills that void with "Lay Me Down". It's a vivid introspective look into the mind of an emcee showcasing life struggles with a vulnerability that more artists should use. Not everything on this project was rewind worthy. In fact some records were skip worthy. Aristotle's "Lose It" record was sub par at best.

The Ron Browz style production with the popular 2008 auto tune was definitely not ear candy for "The Faction". The choppy unhypnotizing, "What It Is", by Chi City, could have had a better hook and delivery. Even Philos, "YO", could have been left for the lost tapes compilation. It is evident that the mixtape lost a little steam as time went on. But it didn't lose the overall appeal as a dope compilation.

If more artists could concentrate on real life struggles and more subject matter other then "women dancing" and "swag" we might have a mixtape that you can go back and play 10 years from now. Think ..

how many people still go back to those old DJ Clue tapes or Cut Master C ones? Again there is nothing wrong with party records but we need more varieties of food at the buffet. All in all click the download button below and support these artists!
