And even hit the Top 6 most requested songs of the day for over a week straight. Dollah D's passion has always been old school G-Funk and westcoast flavor.
This hometown anthem definitely channels it. Dollah D's "Go Funk YaSelf" album was released August 18th on iTunes and other digital retailers.

Where did your name originate from? Dollah D: I actually got my name from a homie out in brooklyn by the name of Devious
What is a typical day like for you? Dollah D: Normally i wake up, get the kids ready for the their day, feed them, dress them, and then i hit the lab for a good solid day of work. I've been workin hella hard on this "Go Funk Yaself" project.
Other then music what do you do to make that paper? Dollah D: Nothin, lol. Im all about this music all day everyday.
When did you first become introduced to hip-hop? Dollah D: I first started listening to hip hop/rap when Warren G's "G Funk Era" was released in 1994, which was a huge influence on my love for west coast music.
Coming up who were your influences in music? Dollah D: Damn...theres alot to go through. Warren G and Nate Dogg were definatly a big inspiration to my style (R.I.P Nate Dogg). Snoops "Doggystyle was HUGE for me. "Whats My Name" was one of the most bangin west coast jams to come out. N.W.A is definatly a big one since they were the godfathers and the beginning of gangsta rap. Some other big influences would be the whole DPG camp, 2 Pac and most definatly George Clinton.There are so many great artists out there, but these are some that stick out for me. What artists/people in your life intrigued you to get into the business? Dollah D: Honestly my love for music drove me to the business automatically. My whole family has a their own musical abilities. My whole team Profreshnill, Lady Akay, Phillie Tha Kyd, Young Gauge and our Main Man Joshua Tyler definatly keep the flame lit in my music. How would you describe your style? Dollah D: I can do anything really...RnB,West Coast,Dirty South, etc. I feel like with todays music there really is no limit or brands on music anymore. people are mixing anything with everything, but i definatly feel like i have my own style that brings something to the table. I will have to say though, that my main passion is for this west coast music. What artists are you currently working with? Dollah D: Man, im working with tons of artists from the west coast right now! Bad Azz, Lil Half Dead, Kokane, Foesum, Tiny Kurupt (G Hood),Big 2 Da Boy, OG Daddy V, Cali Assassin, Black West, Qwiccshott, Forte, XL Middleton, OG Cuicide, Brandi Kane, WC & The whole Street Kingz team. Who would you enjoy to work with? Dollah D: I would definatly like to do some work with snoop, warren G, george clinton, charlie wilson and few other of the vets. Im definatly looking for these artists for the next Dollah D album. Tell us about your current projects? Dollah D: I currently just finished my solo project "Go Funk Yaself".I thought i would bring back the G Funk vibe with a 2011 twist to it! xXx produced the whole project and is seriously amazing. Tons of great features, and i had a blast working with all the people i grew up listening to. What one reason would your fans say separates you from the norm? Dollah D: I would have to say...my style and the fact that im not scared to take chances in this business. I am loyal and humble to every single one of my fans. I got mad love for all the Dollah D fans out there supporting this music. What shows do you currently have lined up for this summer? Dollah D: Right now we are working on some of the other artist releases under Street Kingz/Tactics Entertainment. Shows come up and we take them. We (Street Kingz) just finished a show at Centre of Gravity in Kelowna B.C, and it was a blast meeting with all the different fans.You can check out for new show dates at www.dollahd.com. What would you say makes you different than the average recording artist... Dollah D: I would have to say...my ability to be a major perfectionest. If it isnt on point...im not releasing it. I am also an all around musician. I grew up around all kinds of music and can play many different instruments.Im an engineer, artist, producer & networker. I stay on my grind all day. What's currently in your CD/MP3 player? Dollah D: Right now im really bangin my new album. It feels good to finally be done! What’s your formula, how do you come up with the concepts for your material? Dollah D: Normally i come up with my hook melodies. Once i got that on lock i write all the lyrics to the hook.Once thats done i start working on verses. Really, its all just a vibe to the music. Where do you see yourself in the industry in the next 5 years? Dollah D: Well...LoL. My goal is to create a huge west coast movement out in Canada.Bring out some of the artists, clothing lines, and music out here. Where do you see the industry in 5 to 10 years? Dollah D: I would definatly like to be running a fully functional record label. I wanna get heard on a world wide level and be known for the music i put out. So many moves to make and so many goals to achieve...im a take it one step at a time and hopefully be a huge part of the hip hop world. If you had to choose one track that will have HipHop.Org readers hooked, which track would it be? Dollah D: Damn..thats a serious question, haha.I really dont know how to answer that one...all i can say is...check out the whole Dollah D album and you try and choose the best! lol. Do you have any final words, shoutouts, etc for our community..? Dollah D: First off i would like to thank my wife kayla, my 3 kids Takoda, Kayson & Sunova. My parents, brother and sisters for always supporting me with this music thing!
