Graham Short etched the motto “Nothing is impossible” which measures just a tenth of a millimetre. The letters are invisible to the naked eye, and can only be read with a medical microscope at 400 times magnification. It took Mr Short, 64, around 150 attempts before he was able to complete it.

Engraving at such a level requires almost superhuman effort and dedication to remain completely still. He was only able to work at night, when traffic vibrations are at a minimum, with his right arm bound to the arm of his chair with a luggage strap to minimise unwanted movement.

He uses a stethoscope to monitor his heart, attempting a stroke of the letter only between beats, when his body is perfectly still. He swims 10,000 metres a day and can slow his heart rate to 30 beats a minute.

He worked from midnight to 5.30am most nights of the week, for seven months on his razor blade. On a good night he’d manage three minuscule letters.

The Wilkinson’s Sword blade is now available to buy, with a £47,500 price tag.

Mr Short, a copper and steel engraver by profession, makes the dies used to print the green portcullis on House of Commons headed paper and the letterheads for the royal residences – Sandringham, Balmoral and Windsor Castle. He is, by his own admission, obsessed with miniature engravings. Weird hobby but very cool indeed.

Dead birds and fish: Prophecy ? PDF Print Email

As hundreds more dead blackbirds were found in Louisana Monday, Jan. 3, and added to the 4,000 that fell from the sky New Year’s Eve in Arkansas, thousands of dead fish are also in the mix.

The incidents have prompted Christian sects to look to the Bible and, most importantly, to the sky, for more alleged signs of apocalyptic happenings.

While no one person, not even self-proclaimed prophets, know if God of the Christian Bible is now ushering mankind into the End Times, many believe this week’s dead birds and fish are a sign the Great Tribulation talked about in the book of Revelation and Daniel is fast approaching.

As soon as reports of the 4,000 dead birds in Arkansas hit the Web, Saturday, forums were littered with prophecy comments. The discussion is now on for those stating that the Seventh Seal has been opened and others who are predicting widespread pestilence in coming weeks. Read more

MIAMI (CBS) A finalist from an MTV reality show featuring street thugs hoping for a second, third, or fourth chance at reform has been jailed without bond on charges of first-degree murder and armed burglary. PICTURES: Reality Stars' Run-ins with the Law Baron "Dirty" Colon, who was a finalist on "From G's to Gents" in 2009, was arrested last week for the slaying of artist Marcelo Vera during a botched robbery in January 2006.

According to The Miami Herald, police say Colon was a suspect in the case even as the 24-year-old jetted off to Los Angeles to tape the show which claims to transform "rough-around-the-edges young men" into successful gentlemen. ``I got two kids. I want to be in the gentleman's club because I want to change, for them,'' Colon said during the first episode.

``If I don't change, there's only going to be two things: prison, or death.'' Unfortunately, Colon whose rap sheet contained multiple arrests for drugs, grand theft, and driving with a suspended license could not get away from his past. Investigators got a break in the case last year when an unnamed informant secretly recorded Colon confessing intimate details Read more

Jared Lee Loughner, the suspected gunman in a shooting rampage at a Safeway supermarket in Arizona that left six dead and 14 wounded, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, reportedly planned the shooting in advance.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Loughner's home and found a letter inside a safe that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords wrote to Loughner on Aug 30, 2007, thanking him for attending a "Congress on Your Corner" event, according to an FBI agent affidavit filed with a five-count criminal complaint.

"Also recovered in the safe was an envelope with handwriting on the envelope stating "I planned ahead" and "My assassination" and the name "Giffords," along with what appears to be LOUGHNER's signature," the criminal complaint reads. The criminal complaint includes an attempt to kill a member of Congress, two counts of murder in the first degree and two counts of attempted murder. Read more
