Da Critic, Marketing Genius?

SAN FRANCISCO -- Roger Tiffer better known by his stage name “Da Critic” is a Nicaragua born, San Francisco, Ca native who has emerged and is making his presence very well known on the Westcoast and other regions as well. Da Critic a San Francisco based artist that has caught the attention of a lot of people not only by his marketing strategies but recently by his music and daily updates on various social networks.

Da Critic first caught the attention of the nation by a large distribution of bumper stickers that read: “Add Da Critic!!” along with his MySpace url: “www.MySpace.com/Official Critic” Which were distributed nationwide at no charge to whoever requested one. This would eventually cause thousands of stickers to be mailed out to fans, and people that just wondered what the whole hype was really about.

After a few months and a lot of stickers being seen everywhere (including public property) this would eventually boost his MySpace plays into the millions and his friend list into the 40,000 plus (and still growing). Despite being criticized for his marketing tactics the benefits seemed to outweigh the drawbacks.

After careful consideration Da Critic decided to sign an “Independent Record Deal” with Kamikaze Records ran by CEO Kurtis Kato which has a large music catalog and more than a few years under his belt. Da Critic would be this first rapper on the label; joining the likes of One Vo1ce and Legaci which are both successful R&B groups.

Recently Da Critic has been working with artists and members of the Kamikaze team bringing a whole new sound to the table including a song that leaked “Anytime” which had an astounding response. Even his slideshow videos to some unreleased music he’s planning to give away for free has gotten a large amount of views.
