Philos, short for philosopher is truly a unique mind and talent. Coming from Sacramento, CA, he brings a fresh and original style to the masses. With his signature sound and clever wordplay, he sets himself apart from the norm, and stands tall as a creative force, and not because he’s 6’5.

Guided by his love of music, he has embraced a wide array of genres. Whether it be pop, rock, blues or jazz, Philos has been able to universally connect, and crossover his appeal. This ability and talent led to him to catch the attention of Travis Barker (Blink 182), who welcomed him into his “Famous Stars & Straps” family. So impressed with Philos he featured him on his “Swear They Do” track. An incredible opportunity that opened the door, and allowed Philos to work with other great talents such as The Pack, Yung LA, and Paul Wall. By remaining focused, his path led him to his first project “The Comedown”, a compilation of hip hop artistry where he was featured on several tracks.

“Woman On My Mind” (the mixtape), a showcase of his versatile and unique skills, (set to release 1-1-2011) will be his groundbreaking introduction to the New Year. It shows Philos at his best as he takes you into his mind…his world. From songs that make you move like “Brake Lights” to a smooth melodic “Body Wet”, you can’t help but get caught up in the intricate portrait he paints. Leaving you to do nothing but enjoy the ride track by track.

Driven by his creativity, mind, talent, there is no limit to what he can accomplish. A philosopher is someone who establishes the ideology of a movement…the Philos movement has just begun.

Today HipHop.org has the honor of kicking it with an artist who is branding his name all over the map. Straight from the west coast we are with Philos. Get your seat belts fastened this is gonna be a good one.

Hmmm we tried to figure out the origin of your name "Philos" .. so either you are from Philly or we are clueless (laughs) ... nah for real .. where did you come up with your artist name?

I got my name Philos when I was 13 from a neighborhood friend because of how I speak and view things.

Lets get right down to business. You had a once in a lifetime opportunity. You caught the attention of Travis Barker, and not only that you worked with him.... what is your relationship like now with Travis?

Travis is family, we don't see each other often, but when we do ...it's like yesterday.

Working with TB opened alot of doors for you. What was it like making music with Paul Wall?

Paul Wall is like a big brother to me, so when I told him I had a track for him to jump on ...he did instantly.

On your myspace your genre is listed as "hyphy". How do you feel when alot of people say that genre is dead?

Hyphy is another definition of being turnt up!..... it will never end.

Lets keep it 100 ... for those that don't know .. tell us what seperates hyphy from regular west coast hiphop?

Hyphy is another element and fill of music, but it's still west coast hip hop....

How old are you exactly?

As old as you want me to be (laughs) !!!

Ok so I guess you are 59 (laughs) … Being 6 foot 5 ..is it safe to say Basketball was once an option for your career path?

It's safe to say I'm alive and able to do something positive with my life.

We know you have some big things planned for 2011. The title of your project "Woman On My Mind" caught our attention...

This project has no conscience..... I say what people are afraid to say..... enjoy.

Is this going to be some LL Cool J type of stuff (laughs)?

No, it’s not. Shout out to LL

Where does the title come from?

Being a man ..... besides money and survival what else runs through a man's mind 24/7? (laughs) !!

Give us a sneak peak into the project ..let us know what we are in store for?

A sound you never heard before..... rest is for you to witness.

Who were your influences to get into music?

Many artists.... Don’t want to leave out names..... list too long.

Are you on a label officially ? If so let us know.....

I'm actually not. I’m affiliated with famous stars and straps, but my name is not on any contracts...well not now (laughs)!!

How would you describe your style of hip-hop?

It's my own lane...... it's just Philos
