Karanastic, AKA the self proclaimed "Internets Best Rapper.

The reason that I’m called that is because it’s true.

My songs contain fast flows, offensive subject matter and clever non-radio rhymes.

All my music is free to stream and download.

Vegetarians must beware though, I serve it raw.

I originate from the East Coast. A small town outside of Providence, RI..

Is where I called home for the first chapter of my life. Once I was 19 I packed up my stuff and moved to National City, California before eventually settling to North County San Diego.

Why did I move away from the East? It’s cold as hell and winter sucks. Why did I move from National City? Someone robbed my house and the meth addicts on my steps were annoying.

Rap has been a passion ever since I first heard the album No Way Out by Puff Daddy & The Family. Admit it, that Victory joint is still off the chain.

Influences since then include but are not limited to Jedi Mind Tricks, Royce Da 5’9, Cormega  Young Buck and Immortal Technique.

Hardcore style with a message. I started writing and recording songs on my computer about 8 years ago.

I always enjoyed speaking my mind and being outlandish which is why I was drawn to making illmatic rap tracks.

My songs are still created by me on my Mac with some basic studio equipment.
I began a new style of music video where I put full lyrics accompanied by imagery to depict the subject being rapped about.

There is usually a new unique slide for every bar in the track. These have been getting good exposure and positive feedback on YouTube.

The listener gets more out of the song when they can see your intention in the line.  A lot of those videos are themed songs too.

Super Mario, Dexter, Ninja Turtles and other twisted takes on random subjects in pop culture.
Check out my site Karanastic.com for all my music videos, mp3 downloads and streaming audio.

Remember, I keep it real so you don’t have to.

Tell our readers, where your from.. what's your home-state, country ? I’m originally from a small town outside of Providence, RI and currently holding it down in North County San Diego.

Where did your stage name originate from ? My last name combined with Fantastic.

What is it like for you as an artist day to day typically ? I’m a one-man show.  I have to write/record/mix/promote/code the website/make YouTube videos.

Other than music what do you do to pay the bills ? I work in the Information Technology Industry. I help manage the infrastructure of a medium sized marketing company. That and fix peoples computers when they fuck em up.

What are some of your hobbies and extracurricular activities you enjoy ? Xbox, Chronic and playing with my dog.

What year did you first become introduced to hip-hop ? I got really into it in 1997.

Coming up as an artist what emcee's influenced your music and intrigued you to pick up a mic and hit the booth and stage ? It was actually the Beastie Boys. I thought that if they could make songs, then I could. What I mean by that is they are awful. , I thought I could make better songs without trying. Turns out I was right.

What artists and  people in your life enticed you to get into this business?

I’m a basically a recluse. I don’t know anybody and my non industry friends have shitty taste in music.

How would you describe your presence in the studio when your laying down tracks, do you consider yourself versatile when it comes to a wide range of styles, or do you stick to a certain method when it comes to your delivery and execution ? When I’m in the booth I try to express how I’m feeling and go with what sounds good and appropriate. I try to mix up rhyme schemes and tempo to keep it interesting. I also try not to use common/overused/simple rhymes as I feel that has been played out.  I won’t go far enough to start singing or making love songs either. The R&B side of hip-hop is not really my thing either.

What Artists, Disc Jockeys, Producers are you currently working with? Me, Myself and I.

If you had the pick of any artist(s) to spit a 16 bar verse on a collaborative track what artist(s) would you choose and why ? I’d pick Lil Wayne. Just so I could go up against “The Best” and tear his ass up.

Tell us about your most recently released  project and your current project that's in the works, when is it set for release and what agencies are you choosing for promotion and distribution ? I’m just doing my thing Independently.  2012 is the year I plan on releasing new tracks every month (for Free) and up the amount of YouTube videos I make by a lot. I’m putting in work and spending my own cash to get my name out there.

I made a mixtape called “Mythology of a Villain” in May 2010. I’m proud of that record and I’ve since got a new Mic and a new Mixer. The stuff keeps sounding better and better.

What one reason would your fan base express that separates you from the normal mainstream recording artist ? I make songs about nerdy shit. The Legend of Zelda, Dexter, True Blood, Mario, the list goes on and continues to grow.  The take on these series is always unique and unlike anything else you heard.

What was your most recent gig / show, what shows do you currently have lined up ? Just some internet porn.

What's currently in your iPod / Android / Mp3 Player play list ? I’m currently listening to Hollywood Undead and going back in time with Big Proof and Dogmatic with the classic album Promatic.

What’s your formula when you come up with the concepts for your tracks, when you hit the studio do you record your material off the top or do you use notes as a reference ? I write everything down and work out the kinks as I’m layin down the bars. Writing ahead of time allows me to say everything I want to in the most clever way possible.

Where do you see yourself and your career in the industry in the next 5 years ? Still holding my reign as Internets Best Rapper. I’ll be happy with a solid fanbase and a chance to work with a few other artists.

Where do you see the industry in 5 years ? Listening to the next talentless assclown to come along like Justin Beiber or Drake.

If you had to choose one track that will have HipHop.Org readers hooked, which track would it be ? Nightmares

Do you have any final words, shout outs, etc for our community..? Remember, I keep it real so you don’t have to.
