Immortal Imhotep’s history in the game is a story of struggle, death, and rebirth. Since beginning at age 7 in what the corporate state of Maryland does business at, he has exceeded all competition in the so called city of Langley Park, Md. His number one influence on why Imhotep is here is Chuck D of Public Enemy. Ever since he heard Chuck’s voice over Bomb Squad missles, his head been in them books crackin codes.
In 1993 in the corporate jurisdiction of Hampton, Va, he was then known as Dead Slave and had the Hampton University on fire with his scathing track “Stolen Legacy”. Think if It Takes a Nation of Millions meets Death Certificate and maybe u might could get it. Very harsh.
He met and befriended Larrin Jones aka LAD(RIP) and they became known as Unknown Variables. They were set to put out an album in 1994 when LAD passed away at age 19 of Sickle Cell. Dead Slave then became a member of the DC group SubKrew. Which consists of worldwide conglomerates bent on world domination.
Fastforward to 2001, Imhotep befriends a brotha named Tray Chaney who the world now knows as “Poot” from The Wire. He has written and produced for him and continues to do so.
As we came to 2010, in 2008, Imhotep became involved in the internet music scene by way of www.ballerstatus.com’s writer/producer/mc The Advocate and well the rest is history.

Today we are chilling with a new up and coming rapper named Immortal Imhotep. He has been on the underground grinding out for years now. He is making a name throughout various internet mediums like hiphoplead.com and hiphop.org to name a few. He has been on various mixtape projects also. Now lets get down to business..
Can you explain the origin of your name?? First and foremost, I would like to give All praises due to Allah and his prophet Noble Drew Ali. The origin of my name Imhotep comes from ancient Khemet/Egypt and it means “He who comes in peace”
You reside in Maryland ... do you think you will be the first artist to put them on the map? To a degree, I certainly hope so because we had a lot of cats come thru or whatever but, they ain’t really doing it. Now there are a few Tabi Bonney and Wale are the closest thing right now. But, the click I got coming, Joe, we unstoppable. Nah Mean? We got this shit going on now called “Grind Time Now“. We are the 7th one. I got one of the hottest club bangers still poppin after two years called “La Vela” in honor of the largest club in the USA. So thats doing it way big. “Club La Vela” is located in Panama City, Fl.
What made you wanna get into the music bizz? Well I love music and I wanted to share my thoughts with the world and of course it was all to uplift fallen humanity.
Chuck D was a major influence for you. I guess those Public Enemy albums must be like gold to you.... with that said how do you feel about Flava Flav selling out to Hollywood? He was always a contrast to Chuck and I knew he would be picked at some point to kinda throw a dark cloud over PE’s legacy. But even when you look at the videos, you know he played a JOKER and in poker the JOKER is the smartest one in the deck. HHHMM!!!! Picture that.
You have a strong presence on the Digital Dynasty mixtape series. Whether it is music or Psa's. Are you happy with the response you have received on there? And which volume is your favorite and why? Wow!!! Great question. I never thought it would be this big. It just goes to show the world still yearns for good music and rhymes. I really don’t have a favorite because The Advocate outdoes himself on each installment. Much Big Ups.
You got any new albums coming out or mixtapes? I am still puttin’ the finishing touches on my EP “Charlotts Web“. I want to put it out through E1 or EMI in January. I also want to put out my album in march.
As an artist which will showcase you better ..a mixtape or an album? I would say a mixtape because it’ll wet the listeners appetite for the big meal.
Are you still friends with "Poot" (from The Wire) ? Oh yea, no doubt. We got some big thangs popping for the world. He just dropped his mixtape on Datpiff. Just type Tray Chaney in the search.
Are you on a label? I got my own label Bamboo Ent. Group LLC. I am just looking for distribution. Anybody in the DMV or anywhere in the world we got music for years and a great team. So holla at my myspace (myspace.com/bambooent).
For those that don't know can you tell us about LAD? I met my first real partner in 93 when I went to Hampton U. We started a group called “The Unknown Variables“. He came up wit the name and I came up with the idea cause I’m so good at math.
Did you ever do a tribute to LAD after he passed away? Um not yet but, me and my group are working on something. He passed of Sickle Cell Anemia and I want to do shows with some of the proceeds to go to Moors (misnomered negro, blacks, and coloreds, afro/African American) and so forth. (For more info on Moors go to Ras Kass -Nature of the threat.) I think that’s the name of it anyway. (laughs)
Why is it they can't cure Sickle Cell or Cancer? But they have heat seaking missles and send men to the moon? Well actually they have or should I say we have. Go to Dr. Sebi at www.drsebiproducts.com. He has cured AIDS. He went to NY with 77 patients all cured and he won. He and Left Eye (RIP) were planning on making villages in Africa to cure the nation of aids. He has cured many diseases especially sickle cell and cancer.
Here at HipHop.Org we like to ask our features some questions that really are out of the norm. We do this because it gives the fans a broader outlook on you. So lets get it cracking ....Is Jay Z a mason? HAHAAHAA. Um well to tell the truth I think the people who handle his career thought It would be great to throw a distraction at people to think that. That gives more attention to the whole devil thing. But truth be told Masonry is a byproduct/hybrid if you will of Ancient Moorish Science.
Are you happy with Obama's performance so far? Well, I didn’t vote for him. He’s just a puppet on a string. Obama’s not even his real name. His real identity is Barry Serento(sic). There’s more to this story. I touch on some of it on my EP.
Since "The Wire" went off the air .. what is the closest thing Maryland has in connection with hiphop? Me, my group (The Nobility), SubKrew, The Mile High Club, Syce the Hitmaker, my other group (Third Degree).
Biggie or Big Pun? I’d call it a tie.
What is going to happen in 2012? Nothin’. Just one big smokescreen. We’ve all been lied to. Beware of the Fear Monga’s and Boogie Monsta’s. Just keep ya third eye open and u be ight. Nah Mean!!!???
Back To The Norm.......Name 1 song you've done that will have the HipHop.org viewers hooked!? “Mainstreet Mission”
