Fuego is best known for co-producing Jason DeRulo’s 3x platinum smash hit “Whatcha Say” in 2009, however he’s no newbie in the music business. A classically trained pianist from a Berlin, Germany based family of songwriters, Fuego landed his first official job when he was just 18 y.o. by producing the majority of Aggro Berlin’s ”Ansage Nr. 4” – the first German hip-hop album ever to reach gold status, consequently getting Fuego a Guinness record for being the youngest music producer ever to go gold.

As if producing for recording artists wasn’t enough, Fuego has also scored many commercials since 2005: his composer/sound designer credits include the 2008 Worldwide BMW X Series campaign, 2009 Worldwide Mercedes C Series, 2009 US Ford Fusion TV and several 2010 soccer
WorldCup TV commercials.

Fuego is familiar with all major music production/recording software like Cubase, Logic and Pro Tools. His weapon of choice is MacBook Pro + Logic to be able to work regardless of when and where inspiration strikes. This has definitely proven to be beneficial with his frequent travels between Germany and the US. In the summer of 2010, Fuego finally decided to make the permanent move to the US and got settled in Los Angeles.

During an interview with Dynamicproducer.com, Fuego speaks on being persistent, “I just never stopped working - making music, taking trips, slowly building my network 1 by 1 - and obviously everything paid off. I'm sure a lot of people just give up before their time.” Luckily for the music industry, he adds “I have a lot of great records that are waiting to be heard”. Look out for Fuego’s up-and-coming singles with Island Def Jam artists Ron Isley, YG, N-Dubz and Karina Pasian as well as Cobra Starship, Charice and Nate Walka.

Tell our readers, where your from..
Berlin, Germany

Where did your name originate from?
It was originally Fuego Productions, never intended for me as a person, but people started saying “Produced by Fuego” and it kind of stuck.

What is a typical day like for you? Music, girls, more music…

Other then music what do you do to make that paper? I have a real estate business in Germany… If I have time I’ll definitely do real estate here as well.

When did you first become introduced to hip-hop? MC Hammer!

Coming up who were your influences in music? Originally I wanted to score films because of people like John Williams. Not scoring films just yet, but doing lots of commercials. As for hip-hop my biggest inspiration was Mannie Fresh.

What artists/people in your life intrigued you to get into the business? I always knew I’d be in the business.

How would you describe your style of production? Versatile. Because of my background with advertising music I’m able to write and produce pretty much any genre. I have a great team of musicians for every instrument.

What artists are you currently working with? Jason Derulo, YG, Ty$, Karina Pasian, Ron Isley, Charice, N-Dubz, Hot Rod, Nate Walka, Redd Stylez etc.

Who would you enjoy to work with? Everybody!

What made you want to get behind the boards? My love for music

What one reason would your fans say separates you from the norm? Everybody says I grind harder than everybody else. No idea if it’s true.

What projects do you currently have lined up for the remainder of the year? Can’t speak about it yet.

What would you say makes you different than the average producer... I don’t think in those terms. We’re all in the same boat. I might be a little bit more knowledgeable about the business side of things than others.

What's currently in your CD/MP3 player? I listen to Sirius channel 80s on 8.

What’s your formula, how do you come up with the concepts for your beats? I always start with the chords and melodies. I usually stack many instruments before I even start on the drums.

Where do you see yourself in the industry in the next 5 years? God willing I can contribute to more worldwide #1 hits.

Where do you see the industry in 5 to 10 years? The industry is always gonna be there, and there will always be money to be made.

What would you say to the up and coming producers in the game? Try to create a different sound. Take something that’s already there and make it sound brand-new and exciting.
