In the bustling city of Montreal, Quebec lies a music community bubbling to the rim. There is a plethora of artists working on their craft and honing in on their skills.  Some are prepping for their new incursion into treacherous waters and some are ready to burst onto the scene. Then there are those who are back to reclaim their spot and take their status to higher highs.  Fatty Soprano is a part of the latter classification, the ones who are ready to take their work to the next plateau.

Born in Rostov, Russia, Fatty Soprano and his family moved to the U.S. when he was the tender age of 10.  Fatty made a transition upon his family's move from the U.S. to Montreal. He immersed himself in music, particularly being drawn in by the stories of poverty and individual struggles told in hip hop. Jay-Z and Notorious B.I.G. quickly became his two favorite MC'S. Soon, spitting freestyle verses in the high school hallways, all the while defeating his foes, became Fatty Soprano’s mainstay and no one could defeat this MC on the rise.

Fatty Soprano then delved into the hip hop world, by starting his recording foray at 16 years old laying down tracks with West Palm Beach producer Menoza.  Being signed by DPC Movements in 2006 gave Fatty the opportunity to drop his first mixtape compilation Woke Up This Morning. His debut track "Every Time" won the battle of the new tracks nightly match up on radio station K103 a phenomenal 10 times in a row.

The accolades continued in a steady flow with the release of his 2008 mixtape Hataz Make Me Famous: Class Dismissed, which was hosted by DJ Smalls. He went on to open for Young Buck live in Washington, Dc, broadcasted live on Comcast television. The tracks "Hataz Make Me Famous” and “Cake Up" were later featured on a mixtape compilation on the Cashville Records/ G Unit South label by Young Buck's DJ at the time - DJ Don Juan. That in turn, kicked the door open for him to be included on mixtapes hosted by DJ Vlad, Lupe Fiasco and Fabolous.

Fatty Soprano was also featured in Montreal Community Contact Newspaper, Fourth Coast Entertainment,  New Power and XXL Magazines. “Hataz Make Me Famous” has been on rotation on a bevy of music channels like Much Music’s Rap City, Much Vibe and 5 different Comcast cable channels in the Bay area of California, in over 12 million homes, then to add him opening for Philadelphia Freeway live in Montreal. So many impressive moves and this burgeoning artist is just getting started. To add to that, Fatty Soprano already has his music featured on French television on CBC Radio Canada on a French sitcom.

Now in 2010, Fatty Soprano returned hitting the ground running and taking no prisoners along the way.  Already in distribution are two new singles – “Hold Me Down” produced by Arockas and “Just One” featuring Trina Elle, produced by Paul Williams, which is now on rotation on Much Music. Fatty is working hard to complete his EP C.N.A.D.: Canadian Nightmare American Dream. To add to Fatty Soprano's vigorous schedule, he has found the time to appear on various mixtape compilations in Canada, the UK and the latest, on a compilation hosted by DJ Drama from the U.S.  DJ Danz will also feature him on an upcoming mixtape release out of Italy.

Fatty Soprano is stepping to his own beat. Learning, understanding and gaining more experience as he is on the move. All of these characteristics are needed in order to succeed and take Canada, the U.S. and the world by storm.  Today we are chilling with Fatty Soprano. If you don't know who it is yet you probobally haven't been on worldstar hiphop and seen his video in heavy rotation? you probobally haven't read his interviews throughout the internet ... shiit .. if that's the case then kick back and learn something ...

What's good Fatty?

Everything is beautiful , wrapping up my EP" canadian nightmare american dream " BIG features on it ! And some amazing production as well , real good music !
Also look out for my new single " homeless" music video about to drop soon everywhere!!!

Side bar- Are the Soprano's gonna come back or is that it?

Haha I heard Rumors about a Sopranos movie , that could be really dope!

Dude, that ending was horrible on the show ..what do you think really happened?

That dude at the bar ,he was a hitman for sure (laughs) ! I think he was just waiting for the right time to shoot tony

You have lived everywhere from the US, Canada and even Russia .. out of all those places which is where you call home?

I spent most of my lifetime in Montreal ,Canada. That's my hometown , and I was born in Russia so that's forever in my heart . And I got mad love for America of course ,the land of apportunity and dreams !! I got my first big gig openning for young buck in Washington DC, back in 2008 when he was still with g-unit.

Does Russia have a prominant hiphop scene?

Yeah they actually do, they make some really deep music ,about life struggle and shit , reminds me of pac a little bit . That's the kinda sound russian hiphop is known for . I'm really feeling this dude that goes by the name of "Basta" he is actually from the town I was born in , Rostov, he's really dope , and he's one of the biggest acts making some noize over there.

Can you speak or rap in other languages?

Rap only in english , but I do speak Russian and a bit of French as well.

"Canadian Nightmare American Dream" ... do you feel this is your best work to date?

Definetly !! I feel that this EP really represents growth !! I really feel like I stepped it up big time . I touched on every subject i could so you can relate . The production on it is epic as well shout out to my homie Paul Williams who produced most of the songs on the project!!

What is your favorite song on the project? and why?

I have a song on the project called "Heartburn" featuring Bizarre from D12 and to be honest it's probably the most creative shit you will ever hear. It's this uptempo 80's dance type of beat and me and bizarre go innnnnn rapping about this bad relationship we all went through and how one girl can completely destroy you on the inside.

This year alone you appeared on several Digital Dynasty mixtapes, your video appeared on World Star HipHop and your internet presence has been full throttle. Is your goal to be an indy artist or getting signed to a major label?

Getting signed to a major label, if the deal is right.

Drake is a huge emcee... do you think he respresents Canada the right way?
Absolutely ! Drake is one of the hottest artists in the game right now and he's from Canada which is a great look and an inspiration to many Canadian artists.

Who are your main American Inspirations and who are your Canadian ones?

Notorious BIG , Jay, Nas , Eminem, Pac ,theres too many to name ... and as far as the Canadian ones I have to say Justin beiber haha just joking , I have to say Drake , he really put Canada on the map with his "So Far Gone" mixtape.

We've read you cited Biggie as one of your main influences. Where does 2pac register for Fatty Soprano on the inspiration chart?

Wow Pac's Dear Mamma song will always remain one of my favorites and well as  "Pain" from the Above The Rim soundtrack.

What new projects are coming out? Any features?

Fatty Soprano: C.N.A.D (Canadian Nightmare American Dream) coming out soon ! I have some crazy features on there , Bet’s 106 & park freestyle friday winner Bishop Brigante from Toronto , I have Bizarre from D-12 on there and I got one of the hottest cats in the game right now. I can’t reveal just yet but that EP gon be a problem!

I have a crazy music video on the way thats about to hit everywhere for my second single ” Homeless” directed by one of the illest music video directors in Canada Justin Agustin so look out for that !!

In the video for "Just One" it showed the trials and errors of a boxer. Do you feel making this type of music can relate to anyone in any type of struggle?

Yes, definatley when I was writing this song I was specifically talking about my situation and how all I need is just one chance ,but I think anybody can relate whether you are a athlete , an artist , or even a student trying to get scholarship ,to get into Harvard.

Here at HipHop.org we like to ask our features some questions that really are out of the norm.We do this because it gives the fans a broader outlook on you.So lets get it cracking ....Who spits better Nas or Jay Z?

Jay

What do you think of the proposed new currency called the Amero?

Sounds good to me , you can go to Canada, or Mexico , or any state and it's all about Ameros ! One currency

What were Fatty Soprano's high school days like?

I was far from popular , I can't say I was getting all the chicks haha , I was just a hiphop head and i used to love to battle other emcees back in high school.

What is the illest diss song of all time?

Ether

Back To The Norm.......Ok ..what song of yours should all people check out to get to know you better?
