Born in brooklyn, raised in Staten Island, this new york emcee got into hip hop when he was about 7 years old. Influenced by the pioneers,

he scratched his first record at 10 years old in the South Bronx. The Bronx was a big influence on Dro being strickin by poverty, drugs, and the growth of hip hop.

at the age of 12, he then started freestyling over any beat possible. He became more of a street corner poet, and a battle rapper.

He then started to rock at block parties and house parties and soon enough people would always ask him to spit something for them anytime they seen him.

He never stopped spittin, because it was something he loved to do and always had fun doing it. It gave him a way to express his feelings without using negativity or violence.

Around 16, Dro was one of the best freestyling emcees around but still didn't take it serious. He rather run the streets then recognize his talent. It wasn't until about a year or 2 later where he realized he should pursue a music career.

Though he wasnt dedicated all the time he was in the studio every weekend. He missed out on a lot of opportunities that would have boosted his career due to running the streets and getting caught up in the street life.

While producers and dj's were calling him to put in work, he was partying having fun. Finally, he took it as serious as he could. He teamed up with 1 of his life long producers and good friends incite and started the duo "Cause and Effect".

They went from recording in basements, bathrooms, and closets, to renting out there own studio where they now had 24-7 access. They went on to release their mixtape "Hoody Season". After numerous problems between the 2 of them, they parted ways.

Dro then went back to his roots, which was being a solo artist. He took over the studio, and did what he did best. After his last run in with the law, and being very fortunate to be free, he then took his career to the next level.

He learned how to record and mix his own music because he no longer had anyone to do it for him. Networking with Producers, Dj's and Emcees all over the world he created his own buzz and took promotion into his own hands.

He started focusing on music, nothing else mattered at that point. recording around 100 tracks, he went on to release his debut mixtape "When I Blow Up Don't Show Up". He put out the 21 track classic for free to the streets and the internet.

The mixtape is still generating a buzz with people from around the world downloading it everyday. Dro is planning on dropping, When I Blow Up Don't Show Up" Part.2" in the middle of 2011 and an album with Tame One entitled "The Revolution" early 2012.

However, the real focus is dropping his debut album "Ground Hog Day". The meaning behind ground hog day is that he finally rose up, He finally has gone from the underground scene where he wasn't properly heard to showing the world what he can do.

The hip hop world is waiting for him. He is a real lyricist, a real new york emcee, a talented song writer and one of the most versatile emcees around that can do anything on a beat from hardcore to commercial. Bottom line, he needs to be heard. It's been way too long of a wait, his dues have been paid for years. If your a real hip hop fan, I promise you, you will not be disappointed!

Today we are chilling with a rapper named Dro Pesci. From the mean streets of Shaolin this emcee's rhymes are gritty. There is a method for his madness. On a warm spring day we got to kick it with the homie and see whats going on nowerdays....

Lets get right into it ... No one is really sizzling from Staten Island right now ... does that hurt you as an artist from that area .. or strengthen you?
I would say a little bit of both. It hurts cuz we dont get the proper exposure or recognition, and on the flip side, it helps cuz I stand out being one of the more talented artists out hea.

Without turning this into an infomercial .. we recognize you have the lyrics, subject matter and voice to be the next budding star from Staten Island (or NY in general). Why is it do you think it hasn't happened yet?
It hasnt happened yet cuz I dont make the music they want me to make, they being the industry. I make real hip hop the way I know how, the way I feel its supposed to be.

Do you think in 2011 .. the doper you are as a true emcee, the harder is to get a deal with all this corporate bubble gum music being made? YES! I DO! It's not about skills or talent anymore, it's about what and who they can market, and make tons of money off.

What key events in your life made you want to be a rapper?
Nothing in particular. I always had a love for hip hop (all elements, but especially emceeing). Just realizing the streets will only get you so far, so I decided to take advantage of my true talent.

Who has more longevity .. Ghost, Rae or Meth?
Longevity?...Damn I'd say Ghost.

Out of all the projects you released to date .. which would you say is Dro Pesci's best release?
I would have to say I dont know, I only dropped 2 mixtapes, which were dope but I feel there not my full potential. The people havent heard my best yet, soon though!

What events transpired that split up "Cause and Effect"?
It was alot of things. We butt heads too much, of course we had financial issues, but the last thing was I felt i was being disrespected in my own studio. So I had to address that, and resolve the problem right away, which is what I did.

Are you guys still on speaking terms to this date?
Yea, we speak when we see each other in the streets, or shows and shit. It aint like its beef, you know? I've done some features in his studio and all that, we just dont work together like that no more.

Hypothetically if the duo never split up ... would you be farther in your career now, or no where near your status you have obtained as a solo artist?
I think I wouldn't be where I'm at today. I mean, my work ethic and focus improved 100%. I've got more work done dolo then with him. There was too many distractions, too many people  droppin by on some "hangin out shit". I feel everything happenS for a reason, one door closes another one opens type a shit.

Speaking of projects .. you  featured alot of new bangers on Digital Dynasty throughout the last year. You were going in on that "Therapy" record. How have you liked the reaction you have received from your online presence?
I like any and all reactions online (laughs). At least I know people are listening and paying attention. I dont know exactly what reaction I got from those joints being on those projects, but all I can say is whatever feedback I get online is always positive so I cant complain!

"Therapy" was such a vivid emotion filled lyrical record. How true were those lyrics to the life of Dro Pesci?
To be honest, every word in every bar is 100% true! That's my life on paper, I'm known for doing that, and I'm just glad people can feel it and relate to it. I can give them strength with my words, its crazy!  Those were my feelings and emotions at that very minute and thats the beat that brought it out of me. I would love to do a video for that and REALLY paint the picture.

Out of all your recordings ..what song best describes you as an emcee?
I don't think there is one song to describe me, it's more like one album that could.

Are you on a label? If so let us know.....
I'm currently independent. Theres some labels interested but I dont know what will happen.

What is a typical day like for you?
Typical day for me, (laughs). Wake up whenever I want (most of the time still drunk from the night before) shower and all that, go out and grind! All day everyday. I'm in the studio every single day. I could be dolo, I could be with a squad, I could be drinking or smoking or both. I'm always in different situations, very spontaneous. I like to go out alot and enjoy my life whenever I can. Too much work not enough play can be unhealthy (laughs).

Here at HipHop.org we like to ask our features some questions that really are out of the norm.We do this because it gives the fans a broader outlook on you. So lets get it cracking .... Gimme 8 of your tuffest bars you ever spit?!?
8 of my tuffest bars? (Laughs), wow, all my shit is tuff I got over 200 dolo songs and who knows how many verses I cant even limit it to just 8. I'll let ya decide

Mayweather or Pacquiao?
That's a close one, but I got to with Pacman!

Will 50 Cent ever make the come back he desires?
I think 50 can do whatever he wants! He knows how to succeed in this business. He knows how to make records and more importantly sell them! ( I might not listen to those records) (laughs), but I respect him as a business man and an artist.

Best hiphop producer of all time?
Best producer? Wow, I cant answer that, all I can say is, my favorite producer is Premier! Best I dont know! I like alot of producers out there.

Back To The Norm.......Name 1 song you've done that will have the HipHop.org viewers hooked!?
Shit, I think if they like real hip hop, any of my joints will do (laughs). Not to sound cocky, but if I had to name ONE? I would say "WHO" everybody loves that joint, its a street anthem!

Thanks for hollering at us and in closing give any shoutouts....links to your sites....F.U.'S or whatevers clever...
Shout to the Tha Advocate, EROC, J-Cap, Nick Jackelson, DJ Haze and the street product fam, Tame One n the whole Boomskwad family! and anybody else who showed love since day 1. You know who you are!
