Born and raised in NJ, this 27 year old producer has paved his way in the hip hop Industry. He's Dj'ed on stage with Pacewon and Block Mccloud rocking at spots like SOB's and Court Tavern.

Workin in studios with Fuc That (Street Smartz) or Tame One (Artifacts), this NJ native has consistently put out track after track for almost a decade. He's worked with such artists as St. Laz, DV Alias Khryst, Copywrite, Young Zee, El Da Sensei and thats just to name a few.

His work has also featured on mixtapes with Dj Delz & Dj Kay Slay. His music speaks for itself, having a signature sound that separates himself from the cookie cutter hip hop image. If you haven't had the pleasure to here some of his tracks now's the time to do so. He's got a huge catalog of records with over 500 tracks recorded and he's definatley something to look out for.

His consistency of work and his intensely ambitious drive is whats going to make his music crush the competition. Dont sleep on NJ's DJ Relic!

Today we are chilling with a Producer who has been on the underground music scene for a while now. His name you ask ... DJ Relic. Sometimes the people behind the curtain don't get the time of day or the recognition they deserve. Well we are gonna chop it up and dig his mind and see what makes him function as a producer.

For starts where did the name come from?

Jerzee Deep has been around a long time. Around ten years ago when Triple H was makin hits with O'Henry ( Triple H members are Mr P, Haze and Jewelz) they decided to start the name Jerzee Deep up and add new members. Tito who was affiliated with Triple H and he was the one who got T-shirts made up. We were all working together to make things happen. Unfortunately two of the original members got killed. Tito was shot and Haze passed away from an overdose. So me and Jewelz thought it was only right to keep pushin the name and rep what we been repine since day one. So Jerzee Deep is the team, we official fuck with us.

We know you are Jersey all day ..but what part of the "Garden"  are you reppin?
Me personally Im really trying to rep everywhere. Living in the state so long I know people all over so I just want to keep the movement in the state. I've prob lived in almost every county in North Jersey at some point. I grew up mainly in the Morris County area but I'm not gonna just rep one area Im gonna support everyone and everything in the state.

Would you describe yourself as more "Jersey Shore" or "Brick City" ?
Personally I hate the Jersey Shore. I just don't think its a good representation of NJ at all. There is nothing real about it. There's no real life struggle, no emotion, no lifestyle its just a carbon copy of some corny cookie cutter image. I made my trip 'down the hill' more than 'down the shore' .

Being a Producer with his own sound, can you tell us if there is a difference in NJ hiphop and NY hiphop? and If there is what specifically?
I can definitely hear the difference. I listen to NY rappers but i think our sound is a little bit more raw. You got movements out here where we're really uniting. Spots like 8 Park or NNS or Court Tavern where hip hop is really jumpin and if you come around you can see how it is out here. Everyone knows everyone its a like little hip hop community.

Being a hiphop Producer isn't as flashy as an artist. Does being in the background make you feel isolated or do you like it that way?
Nah, personally I'd rather just be in the background. I'm not the type to draw attention I'm the type to do what I'm doing regardless of the hype around it. I'm not doing what I'm doing for the exposure I'm doing it cuz its in my heart and in my blood. I'm doing it cuz I feel like doing it with one fan or a thousand and I drop music that I wanna hear, not to please everyone else. I could make records like down south or trap beats but fuck that Im doing what I do cuz I love it , not cuz im chasing the fame.

Did you ever wanna pick up a mic and get busy?
Haha.. I won't lie I got some tracks floating around with me spitting. People tell me its dope. I mean who knows maybe I'll drop some tracks like J-love or Dame Grease or Alc.. you never know. I release more emotion on beats than anything, to me sounds carry a lot of emotion and its a way to express my feelings without saying shit.

What aspect of music is more important to you .. djing or producing?
I mean I been a dj for years. Turntabalism was my hobby way before producing. I was battling dudes with tables before makin records, but I always thought about making my own original music. Going up to fat beats or turntable lab
and picking up records and just thinkin to myself I need to have my own tracks. So all these vinyls would drop and I started making mixtapes with a tape deck and a microphone plugged into the mixer and just have my boys spit on the instrumental side. It had me thinking that I should be making my own tracks with original beats. And I focused on this more when tables started becoming extinct and cd tables came into play. When all that started happening my love for djing kinda died.

For those that don't know can you tell us about the group you are in, "Jerzee Deep" ?
Ok the group Jerzee Deep been around for years. RIP to one of the illest to ever do it Haze. Me and Jewelz just keeping the name alive
and shown em what we have to offer. It's been around over a decade but really just recently we been putting out tracks for the masses. We got mixtapes out and if you check the website you can hear old songs from over a decade ago like on 'Lost Tapes',  but you can also hear what we're doing now. This is years in the making and we're just starting to come out now. But we still got a lot of music coming so stay up on us.

We heard you guys have an album coming out soon .. can you tell the HipHop.Org viewers the title of it and what the can expect from it?
Yes, the title of the album is "Prince of New Jerz" or "Prince of NJ". Its our first real project were releasing
and it'll drop sometime summer of 2011. We got a lot of big name artists on there. Shyheim, AZ, Na'tee, Shawn Lov, Runt Dawg Etc. These artists we choose were just personal favorites. People that should get more shine in the industry. You can pre order your copy now.  This album is gunna be shrink-wrapped have an official booklet and have a barcode. It'll be a regular cd like you would purchase at any cd store. We got labels interested, but were gonna push all our music independently till we see something worth wild.

Is there a place they can buy it online?
It'll be released on Itunes thru Def Jam Digital.

How much production did you do on this album?
About 90 percent of it is mine and we also got production from TNT. This project should be a good representation of my work. We recorded a lot of songs so I cant say what is definitely on it yet but this will definitely be my best work out.

Is DJ Relic's first priority Jerzee Deep or DJ Relic (as a solo brand) ?
I mean Jerzee Deep is my first priority right now, but I also got beats for sale at Relic Beats .com. I got exclusives and leased beats for sale so I'm trying to hustle both. If you like my beats then also check out my group for my music and If you like my group i made the beats let me know if you want to buy any, you know?

In your opinion who is the best Producer in hiphop history?
I got a lot of favorites I'm a hip hop fanatic. I just mainly focus on style and originality, I like producers with signature sounds. Producers that come to mind would be Dame Grease, Rsonist, Cool and Dre, Kanye West, Jake One, Stoupe, Sid Roams, etc.

Have you ever produced a record that wasn't hiphop?
No, but I'm open minded.

What are your weapons of choice when making a beat?
I mess with a little bit of everything whatever works analog and digital.

Who were your influences to get into music?
There's so many influences. Growing up Stretch and Bobbito inspired me. Eddie Ill and Bazooka Joe tapes, Over Ya Head radio, etc. A lot of albums that dropped influenced me from past to present. From Illmatic & 36 chambers to Diplomatic Immunity and Public Domain. If I'm feeling it I'm feeling it.

Any new projects coming out? Any features?
We got the "Jerzee Deep" Album "Prince of NJ" and the records that don't go on the album will be released on a mixtape on datpiff. We got a few tapes on datpiff just search DJ Relic.

Are you impressed with the response you have received from your presence on Digital Dynasty?
Yea, I'm glad Advo threw us on there. He's really reppin for Jerz, there's not too many out here that got there mixtape game like that ...he's doin his thing.

Here at HipHop.Org we like to ask our features some questions that really are out of the norm. We do this because it gives the fans a broader outlook on you. So lets get it cracking ....

Being New Jersey is on the tv everywhere, why isn't the music at the fore front aswell???

Exactly why isn't it. Theres a lot of hip hop shows in NJ and theres a whole movement out here. Youtube vids aint really doing us justice.

Who would win a beat battle ... DJ Premier or Kanye West?
Kanyes beats are more hyped he'd prob get a better crowd response but Premier got more respect in the game so that might work in his favor.

Are you concerned about 2012?
Nah.. not at all. I don't believe the hype around it.

With all this crazy stuff going on in the world we heard about alot of flooding in New Jersey over the past few weeks... have those floods effected you personally?
Yea man shit I gotta take care of my family they rely on me to
buy them food etc and i couldn't get to the damn grocery store I took like ten detours just to get where I needed to go. This was the worst I seen it ever. I seen cars under water and all the hospital parking lots by me were flooded so
everyone parked on the street it was crazy.

Back To The Norm.......Name 1 song you've been a part of that will have the HipHop.Org viewers hooked!?
All our music is like that. I can honestly say that we got loyal fans and people rep us a lot. Just hop on the website Jerzee Deep .com and get
a feel for our music rather than one particular song.
