Today we are chilling with a new up and coming rapper named Nova.

Nova is repping Pheonix, AZ, and he has been steadily making his mark on various high profile mixtape appearances.

Aswell as hitting the streets and internet with his music. So on the day that summer officially kicks off, we are gonna chop it up with the homie.

With most people in Hip Hop from the East or West Coast do you think being from Arizona makes it harder for you to get on? It definitely makes it harder since most west coast artists come frome Cali.

Our state has been looked at as not being black enough or hood enough. We are starting to get some shine with the homie Williy Northpole being at DTP.

What made you choose Nova as your stage name? My cousin Altorean (Al-Mack) gave me the name Casanova .. he said cause I smooth with the words … but since there is a lot of Casanova being used as DJ names and other things I changed it.


What made Nova wanna get into Hip Hop? I have always had a love for a good beat… so I bought my first triton and began from there. Just growing up on that West Coast rap and understanding where they are coming from when they spit made me want to pick up the mic.


Who were your influences to get into music? Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Too $hort, Dj Quik, Mack 10, Tupac, Nas, and Run Dmc.


On Digital Dynasty 15 Hosted by Naughty By Nature and Digital Dynasty 16 Hosted by Saigon .. you had a songs on there. It was one of the most talked about tracks on the project ... How did that song come about? The beat just fell together one night messing around on the keyboard one night… and the concept of the song just came from sitting around with the verdict and just thinking how we came up on the southside of Phoenix, AZ…. Broadway 24st!

What solo projects have you released to date? None as of now…. Soon to be released "4qt."


Recently Waka Flocka said lyrics don't matter. What is your opinion on that? and do lyrics matter to you in your music? That’s some bullshit these new artists are on. Lyrics are everything .. that’s why we have so many fly by night ass rappers now. The lyrics is how I get my point across… what I say is what you will remember me by.


How would you describe the sound of Arizona Hip Hop? Our scene is so thick there is no specific sound to make us stand out. We have a little of everything… but it is funky.


Are you on a label? If so let us know..... Currently independent …. "Hoodstyle ent."


Any new projects coming out? Any features? Currently working on a mixtape, a compilation, and my solo project…as far as features…. Bolow… The Verdict.. J-Wood.. J.E. Mullah.. Huedon. I like that raw sound.


What is a typical weekend like for you? In the studio always working on something.

If you could bring back any dead emcee ... who would it be and why? Tupac…. He just had more to say that we will never get to hear.
