A graduate of The Musician’s Institute, A writer, An artist, A poet, A musician, and someone who love’s music so much, it equals life. Like the very air we breathe. Grew up in Camden County, New Jersey 37th and Westfield, and the Delair section of Pennsauken… Not much money, Welfare at one time, a few alcoholic parents, and a life long struggle to make it. Moved to Cali, Florida and figured out that This South Philly native wanted to come back to home… New Jersey.

I worked with many Punk Rock bands and producers such as Trever Keith (Face to Face , Legion of doom) and Chad Blinman (Face to Face, saves the Day, Moneen) to name a few. Produced a Punk Rock record with Chad by “Fell Far Behind” who was being looked at by 4 labels of my doing with my consistent marketing plans and various help to the band as a tour manager/manager. Got really sick of bands and them always folding like a wet paper towel when pressure arose.

Got back to my Hip Hop roots. I DJ’d the 1 and 2’s from 16-21 and grew fond of Hip Hop at an early age being in an Urban environment all the time. Met Blackkey aka Flow of Sweden in Cali, He was pretty big in Sweden in a group called QBN Flow. Sought out after my roots and worked with Blackkey aka flow, U-God of The Wutang Clan, Killah Priest, M80 (world record holder for longest freestyle 9 hrs 15 mins and 15 seconds)..

Also worked with Slimkid3 of The Pharcyde. Continuing my endeavors, working on a record including all of those people among others… Worked with Scott Stallone of FoundSound (Jedi Mind Tricks, Jus Allah, Army of the Pharohs)…and here I am… with the hottest hand I’ve had in a long time, a studio, Joe Marrone (former owners of Antra Records) as my lawyer, M80 a friend and the manager of Redman, Styles P of D-Block, Canibus, Killah Priest, and others all at my disposal when I want 16 bars for a track I see fit. Looking for a label but I don’t need one, Looking for MGT. but I don’t need one, Looking for Distribution but I don’t need it… It would be nice to have it all though wouldn’t it? I want to reach the top and climb higher. Life is a game of inches and I fight for every... last…one of them.

Tell our readers, where your from.. My family is from South Philly but moved to South Dirty Jerz… P-Town, Pennsauken, (Delair scton) NJ and Camden, NJ 37th & Westfield.

Coming up who were your influences in music?
Run DMC, Jay Dilla R.I.P. KRS, Rakim! Mobdeep, BIG, The Pharcyde, Tribe Called Quest, Redman, EPMD, Keith Murray, Arrested Development. Wutang, Canibus, Bob Marley Big influence in my music, Face to Face (punk band)… Trever Keith and Chad Blinman do a ridiculous band called “Legion of Doom” sick music, Portishead, and my favorite of all time. DJ Shadow.

What artists/people in your life intrigued you to get into the business?
I went to school at The Musician’s Institute and paid for every dime on my own. I was in a huge punk band at age 14. Playing to 2500 kids. I was hooked then, recently, M-Eighty has been like a mentor along with Jus Allah awhile back. I don’t see Jus much because he’s always touring with Jedi but M-Eighty has been coaching me through some of Hip Hop’s finest marketing and what not. He has a record coming out “Taking Back What’s Mine” feat Redman, Keith Murray, Canibus, etc etc… Gucci Mane. Sick.

How would you describe your style?
Hip Hop, Rock and melodic overtones, blues type background… Instrumentalist so Guitars are real, Bass is real sometimes, drums are real sometimes… Trip hop and rock mixed with Hip Hop. You can classify me as alternative hip hop.

What artists are you currently working with?
M-Eighty, Canibus, Killah Priest, Philly Swain, Slimkid3 of The Pharcyde, U-God of the Wutang Clan, GMoney, Leaf, and the Premavara Family, BlackKey, The best worldly singer I know, (Bob Marley mixed with Wyclef in a worldly person)…Eagle… I was so proud of him stepping up big on a track with Killah Priest and M-Eighty… Holds its down. DJ JD, A.D.D, FOX should be a good one, Kidcraze, Chosen the Great. Looking forward to doing some more stuff with M-Eighty, Possibly Styles P, More Killah Priest, him and M are my people. They deliver. You want bars email M-Eighty on Facebook. Only if you GOT BREAD and are SERIOUS about ya craft. Broke Mother F*ckers step off. Weak music step off.

Who would you enjoy to work with?
DJ Shadow, Wayne for sure, His whole camp… I think we would click cause of my guitar styles. Redman. He’s from Jerz and I know we’d smoke da F*ck drink da F*ck out! Lol. And Anyone with passion.

Tell us about your current projects? My 2nd record, Envy Innocence, a trip hop project with Laura Woodrell, talented singer from Orange County < CA… Horror film called Devoured by Darkness… scoring that, GMoney, KD, Smoke, and Payroll records. Eagle is up next from Premavara Records. He’s a beast waiting in a box with Kidcraze… I think I’m put them two together like a group. A lot really.

What one reason would your fans say separates you from the norm? Live Instrumentation and the ability to go beyond auto-tune or the regular styles… I’m different from the foundation up. I’m a Recording artist not a Hip Hop artist although that’s my heart, feel me?

What shows do you currently have lined up for this summer? Summer is a ways away but I’m looking to get on a tour with M-Eighty and his people. That would make me happy. But college radios that want interviews, I’m all over.

What would you say makes you different than the average recording artist... I put 110% in everything I do, follow through, never give up, and it takes me weeks to perfect music sometimes. I have music I have been hoarding since age 15. Yes I hide music for 10 years, a riff or a piece of music because you believe in its value. Yes. I do that.

What's currently in your CD/MP3 player? Philly Swain, Wutang, M-Eighty, Premavara, Canibus, Jedi Mind Tricks, AOTP, The Undergods Keith Murray and Canibus, 60 Second Assassin, Sunzof Man, Killah Priest! Copp Devize, Papoose, Redman, Meth, Raekwon the Chef, Ghostface, DJ, Shadow, the X-ecutioners, Muddy Waters, Portishead, Wayne, Drake, Eminem came on hard this year, I will give him his props. Immortal Tech, Diabolic is nasty, Philly Swain, shout outs to Swain for killin em, Best battle rapper I know personally, I know I know arguable…Wi$e –Guys!

What’s your formula, how do you come up with the concepts for your material? However it flows. From a hook, From a riff, from a drum beat, (Most of the time) but however. Maybe start with just bars. The Canibus track started with bars and a bpm…. I wrote around it. I’m a murderer on production, engineering, post-production and beyond. Tricks taught to me by Dan Korneff…my mentor Know for…(Paramore “Riot”, Breaking Benjamin, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) and Scott Stallone who mkixed 2 tracks on my record. Known for (Jedi Mind tricks, AOTP) so I had some skilled people teach me a little something something…

Where do you see yourself in the industry in the next 5 years?
Heavy Underground…. also working with bigger stars, and scoring film.

Where do you see the industry in 5 to 10 years? More involved with endorsements over record labels, CD’s still wanted but sharing space with MP3’s.

What final words do you have for our community and the prospects of hip hop?
Hip Hop is a culture…. Whatever it gives you, give it back, I am trying to set up a teaching program at East Camden Middle School….that goes for all music, and create the new, don’t live in the old, don’t be afraid to accept and try new things, this is where we find ourselves. This is where we achieve greatness. -Premavara
